Provenza, Medellín: what to know
Provenza is the part of El Poblado where Medellín goes out to eat, have a drink and shop local design. If you're looking up Provenza Medellín and wondering how to tackle it, we're writing from the corner: Haven is a two-minute walk away, and places like Carmen and Makeno are one minute out.
It's a grid of tree-lined streets where old houses have become restaurants, bars and shops. By day it's a neighborhood for strolling. By night it fills up. Understanding both sides is the key to enjoying it.
Our guide lists 16 places in Provenza and four more on its edges with Parque Lleras and the rest of El Poblado. The two areas run into each other: Provenza leans toward restaurants and shops, Lleras toward bars.
Getting around
How to walk Provenza through the day
Daytime
Mornings belong to coffee and brunch. Café Noir, dark and lounge-like inside, is the classiest choice for a date or a meeting. Floretto Brunch & Coffee does an unhurried breakfast two minutes from the hotel.
The Ruta 14 gallery circuit starts nearby and runs down through the neighborhood. It's worth it on a weekday or Saturday, when the galleries are open.
Late afternoon
This is the best time to walk it. Shops are still open and terraces start to fill. For a sunset view, Envy Rooftop sits on top of The Charlee and expects smart dress. Our own 360° Rooftop & Restaurant is even closer.
After dark
Provenza becomes El Poblado's meeting point. Calante Cocktail House has sidewalk tables for people-watching. Konbini, hidden behind a Japanese convenience-store front, goes from conversation to dance floor as the night goes on. Bar Carmen, No. 39 on The World's 50 Best Bars 2026, is the most acclaimed cocktail bar in the area.

What's in Provenza: food, shopping and green space
Eat
A good share of the city's most interesting cooking is here: Carmen, Sambombi Bistró Local (on the Latin America's 50 Best 2025 list), Boro, Mar y Fuego, Osso and Test Kitchen Lab. Our Provenza restaurants page goes into detail. For something sweet, Amor-Acuyá Gelato and its Colombian fruit flavors.
Shop
Makeno brings together fashion, jewelry, fragrance and home goods from leading Colombian designers. Artesanías Colombia Mía is the stop for Colombian coffee, sweets and textiles.
Walk
Parque Lineal La Presidenta follows the creek between Provenza and the main avenue. It's a green break, best in daylight.

Carmen

Provenza · $$$$
Medellín's modern classic: chef-driven cooking celebrating Colombian biodiversity in an intimate garden setting, steps from the hotel.
Our tip: Book dinner and start with a cocktail at the bar. Closed Sundays.
Book the in-demand restaurants, especially Thursday through Saturday. In high season, like December and the Flower Festival in August, Provenza gets packed.
Some places close on Sundays: Carmen, Don Diablo and Sambombi, according to our data. Always double-check before you go.
If you want to actually talk, get to the bars early. The volume goes up as the night goes on.
At night, stick to the busy streets and take a cab or a ride-hailing app for anything beyond the neighborhood.
