Where to eat

Provenza restaurants: our shortlist

Provenza has plenty of restaurants, and not all of them are worth one of your nights in Medellín. These are the Provenza restaurants we send our own guests to, all within a six-minute walk of Haven. Most are one or two minutes away.

We've grouped them by cuisine and occasion. Our guide rates price on a 1-to-4 scale: almost all of the chef-driven spots sit at the top, and there are mid-range options for everyday meals.

Three belong to the Carmen group: Carmen, X.O. and Don Diablo. They're a minute from the hotel, right next to each other, and cover three very different nights out.

Chef-driven

Chef-driven cooking and tasting menus

Carmen is the place to start, and the restaurant we recommend most for a first night in Medellín. From the same group, X.O. is a tasting counter with many courses and very few seats. Book days ahead.

Test Kitchen Lab works with ferments and strictly Colombian ingredients in an eight-course menu with fixed seatings. Sambombi Bistró Local, from chef Jhon Zárate, made the Latin America's 50 Best 2025 list. Order to share here; the menu keeps changing.

Colombian

Provenza restaurants for Colombian food

Boro is the opening of the year: the Medellín debut of Jaime Rodríguez, the chef behind Celele, built on native Colombian ingredients. It opened in mid-2026, and reservations are a good idea.

Mar y Fuego cooks between the sea and the grill, with fresh fish and a leafy terrace strung with lights. In style and menu, it's one of the easiest picks for a group or a family.

More options

Steak, vegan and daytime spots

If you're here for the beef

Don Diablo, from the Carmen group, is the steakhouse for a business dinner, with dry-aged cuts and a wine list built around them. Osso, Renzo Garibaldi's Lima-born butcher and grill, is more laid-back and a notch lower on price.

Meat-free

Paloma, formerly Kaime, is mid-range vegan cooking that wins over committed carnivores. It changed name and owners in 2026, so confirm before you go.

Daytime

Floretto Brunch & Coffee for a slow breakfast and Amor-Acuyá Gelato for the afternoon. They're the two spots in the neighborhood where you can show up without a reservation or a big bill.

Before you go

Reservations and timing

Book chef-driven restaurants well ahead, especially Thursday through Saturday, in December and during the Flower Festival in August. X.O. and Test Kitchen Lab have very limited seating.

According to our data, Carmen, Don Diablo and Sambombi are closed Sundays. If your free night is a Sunday, plan around that.

For a drink first, Bar Carmen is right next to the restaurant, and Haven's 360° Rooftop & Restaurant is a minute away if you want to catch sunset before dinner.
